Social Media Intern
Position
Summary:
The
Carl and Mary Koehler History Center has an opening for a Social Media Intern
on site at our 615 First Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA location.
Primary
Responsibilities include:
•Increase
the History Center’s voice and presence across Linn County community through
social media.
•Develop
tactics to drive traffic to and increase user engagement on The History
Center’s social media channels and web site.
•Create
relationships with key influencers in the social media space, CR and Linn
County cultural
•Integrate
online communications in support of The History Center’s overall marketing and
communication objectives.
•Employ
and document the latest trends and accepted practices in social media, helping
The History Center maintain a strong and growing social presence during the
internship.
•Develop
tactics to manage online brand reputation to advance The History Center
objectives.
•Document
social media outlined above for staff to continue programs after internship
completion.

Requirements
for the Social Media Intern:
•Student
in a related field with ample social media training.
•Experience
with social media systems and platforms, preferably in the area of non-profit,
public affairs, public relations, and marketing or media relations.
•Strong
practical and technical knowledge of social media platforms; including but not
limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pintrest, YouTube, Google+ and Yelp.
•Excellent
editorial judgment with exceptional writing skills, particularly for the web.
•Hours
flexible based on student schedule and availability.

Hours / other details:
This is an unpaid internship position, but eligible for school credit. The intern who exhibits high-quality performance will receive the support of their supervisor in terms of earning experience, acquiring professional references and general networking opportunities.
Starting date is negotiable with applicant's schedule. A May or June start date is recommended if you are aiming for a summer internship and seeking credits toward graduation. The spring semester is already set for most students, so applicants will have to register for the summer session. Coe College has a May term that would work and MMU's summer session begins in June.
