The Memory Makers Workshops shown below are designed for children ages 4 to 8 accompanied with an adult. Suggested donation for most workshops is $3 per child. Reservations are recommended to assure work space and materials.

Thursday, July 29th, 5:30 to 9:00 pm – Trivia Night

 Test your knowledge and help raise funds for the Carl & Mary Koehler History Center. Pre-paid registration of $10 per person is required. Form your own team of up to 8 people or join one of the networking tables. Teams compete by answering 10 rounds of 10 questions each. At the end of the night, prize money is given to the top three teams. The event will take place at the African American Museum of Iowa. (Print the Trivia Night Registration Form on main menu and return it to the History Center with your payment.)

 Saturday, August 21st, 10:30 to 11:30 am – Memory Makers Workshop for Kids - Airplanes

The History Center will highlight its collection of Alexander Lippisch artifacts. Lippisch worked for Collins Radio and developed many experimental aircrafts. Each child will create a toy airplaine to take home. Recommended for children ages 4 to 8 accompanied by an adult. Recommended donation is $3.

Saturday, August 28th, 1:00 to 2:30 pm – Downtown Walking Tour w/Mark Stoffer Hunter

Join Mark on the fourth Saturday of each month between May and September. These tours will depart from the History Center. Join us as we walk and listen to interesting and unforgettable stories about the people, area buildings, and events that took place in the earlier days of Cedar Rapids. Admission for each tour is $7 for adults, $6 for History Center members, and $5 for children ages 8 and up.

Saturday, August 28th "Corn County" Exhibit Opens  

This exhibit will continue through May 17, 2011.

Saturday, September 18th, 10:30 to 11:30 am – Memory Makers Workshop for Kids - Corn Husk Dolls


The workshop will begin with a look at the many food and non-food items made from corn. Children will explore the History Center's temporary exhibit "Corn County" and then craft a cornhusk doll. Recommended for children ages 4 to 8 accompanied by an adult. Recommended donation is $3.00.

Saturday, September 24th, 1:00 to 2:30 pm – Downtown Walking Tour w/Mark Stoffer Hunter

Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to join Mark on his FINAL TOUR of the season. It will depart promptly at 1:00 p.m. from the History Center. We will walk and listen to interesting and unforgettable stories about the people, area buildings, and events that took place in the earlier days of Cedar Rapids.
