Inventors and Inventions

Almost everything in our modern world was invented by someone – TV, washing machines, cars, signal lights, ice cream, you name it! Learn about the inventors like Edison, the Wright Brothers, Marconi, Madame Curie and their amazing creations, recreate their experiments, use their inventions and maybe even come up with an invention of your own!

Ages 7-9: July 20-24  9:00-11:30
Ages 10-12: July 20-24  1:30-4:00

Chautauqua - Acting OUT!

Kids can be real characters! Based on the Chautauqua of the 1800s, you will bring history to life by recreating an historical character. there are acting exercises, readers' theater and time to develop costumes and props as well. Be prepared for visits by historical characters portrayed by our professional actor! Families are invited to an informal presentationon the last day.

Ages 7-9: July 13-18  9:00-11:30
Ages 10-12: June 22-26  9:00-11:30 and August 3-7  9:00-11:30

What's in Grandpa's Attic?

Become history detectives as you discover clues to the past in the "junk" in Grandpa's attic. Each day brings new objects and mysteries to be solved, things to use and to play with - photographs, games, toys, clothing, arts and craft supplies - there is so much to discover about life in Grandpa's time.

Ages 7-10: July 27-31  1:30-4:00

Workhop fees: $50 for History Center members
                              $60 for nonmembers
