A Very Vintage Holiday!

Join The History Center for a very special holiday event, including a screening of the 1910 silent film A Christmas Carol! Enjoy traditional holiday music performed by Nancy Patrick, children from Coolidge Elementary School choir, and Prairie High School's Cantabile select chorus. Families can make a holiday ornament to take home and have their family picture taken. Photographer George Henry and historian Mark Stoffer-Hunter will be available for book signings. Enjoy hot cocoa and mulled wine during the event. Admission for this event is $5 at the door.

Oral Histories LIVE! with Herman Ginsberg

The Ginsberg family has been running the Ginsberg Jewelers store in Cedar Rapids for almost 100 years. Their store was located downtown until the flood in 2008 led them to relocate. Herman grew up in the family business and has been a long-time advocate of the downtown community, especially of retail stores. Come hear Herman’s great recollections of downtown retail, especially during the holiday seasons of the past. Beer, wine, soda, and water will be available for purchase during the event. ADMISSION: $7 General Public, $5 Members
