Book Reading & Signing

Anneliese Tisdale was born in Germany and lived there through World War II. In 1947, she came to the United States as a war bride and became a U.S. citizen in 1950. She received BA and MA degrees from the University of Iowa. After her retirement from the Cedar Rapids public schools, and at the urging of her children, she wrote her first book, Christmas Trees Lit the Sky, her memoir about growing up in World War II Germany. The book, published in 2012, vividly describes her family’s struggle to survive the war, as well as the Nazi regime, during some of the most defining times of the twentieth century. Grown-Up Show-n-Tell Hosted by Dennis Green

Remember show-n-tell from your childhood? Well, we're bringing it back! We invite you to sign up to bring photos, letters, family mementos, or other objects to share their stories with the audience. These personal stories and special objects will be fun and fascinating to hear! Would you like to bring something to share? Please sign up HERE. Each participant will have 5 minutes to share their story/item with the audience. We will limit the number of sharing participants to 10. Admission $5.00 at the door. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The program will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. Refreshments available for purchase. Max capacity for this event is 80.
