Virtual Event

Mel Andringa has extensive experience as a performance artist, workshop leader, teacher and public speaker.  Mel formed The Drawing Legion, a performance company in New York City in 1974, and produced eight major plays and numerous site-specific performances with F. John Herbert. These productions were presented in over 50 US cities; and on seven tours of the Netherlands sponsored by the Mickery Theater Workshop.

Mel is a Founding Partner and Producing Director of Legion Arts, a non-profit, interdisciplinary, arts organization.  For almost three decades, he managed artist relations and operations at CSPS, a contemporary art center in a 120-year old Czech social hall. During that time (under the executive direction of Mel’s partner and co-founder, F. John Herbert) Legion Arts presented over 3000 events and more than 500 exhibitions, by regional, national and international artists.  Legion Arts was a partner in the National Performance Network, and The Warhol Initiative.
