Mask Update

As of March 10, 2022, The History Center strongly recommends visitors wear a mask while visiting the museum or attending events and programs. 

Covid-19 Update

Following the Linn County Board of Health’s support of the CDC’s masking recommendations, The History Center will require masks for all individuals inside of the building beginning August 5, 2021. This requirement applies to all museum admissions and any indoor programs and events.

Museum Closed to Prepare for Two New Exhibits - August 12 through August 27

The History Center will be closed from August 12 through August 27 to prepare for two new exhibits, Fashion and Philanthropy: The Armstrong Family and Victory: Adapting to Peace.

 

These exhibits will be available to the public for viewing upon the reopening of The History Center on Saturday, August 28.

Museum hours beginning August 28:

Tuesday from 12 PM to 4 PM

Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM

Friday from 12 PM to 4 PM

Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM

Museum Closed for Private Event - Thursday, June 24

On Thursday, June 24, The History Center will be closed for a private event. 
The museum will be reopen on Friday, June 5 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Museum to Open Late - Saturday, June 26

On Saturday, June 26, The History Center will be closed from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

This time allows staff and volunteers the opportunity to participate in the planning of the future successes of The History Center.  

The museum will be open to the public from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Museum Closed to Prepare for New Exhibit - June 13 through June 19

The History Center is currently closed to prepare for Spirited: Prohibition in America, a nationally touring exhibition.

 

This exhibit will be available to the public for viewing upon the reopening of The History Center on June 19.

Thursday from 4 PM to 8 PM

Friday from 12 PM to 4 PM

Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM

Covid-19 Update

The History Center is encouraged by the progress our local and national community has made towards the fight against Covid-19.  This institution is also aware of the new guidelines recommended by the CDC regarding mask usage. 

 

The health and safety of The History Center’s visitors, volunteers and staff is the highest priority and we are committed to the safety of our community. It is difficult to ascertain exactly who has been vaccinated and who is not.  Therefore, the mask and social distancing requirements currently in place will remain in place until May 31, 2021, at which time The History Center will review the policy and situation.

Planning your summer visit to The History Center?

Please be advised of the following museum closure dates which will allow us to prepare for an exciting limited-time exhibit, Spirited: Prohibition in America.

 

The History Center will close Monday, June 14th and reopen on Saturday, June 19th.

The History Center will close Thursday, August 5th and reopen on Saturday, August 21st.
