Severe Weather & Closings
The History Center is committed to excellent service to our community each and
every day. But, your safety is the most important!

The History Center and related community programming will be postponed, cancelled or closed when severe weather strikes. For the latest updates please visit our Facebook page.

If the area weather service has issued a warning before a program begins, or if the Cedar Rapids area school districts have dismissed or had a delay for any reason (rain, storm or snow) we will follow their lead.

Any program or exhibit hosted through a community building, like The Cedar Rapids Public Library, is subject to the closing decisions made by that building.

Walking tours will continue in light rain or snow. Tours will be canceled if there is lightning or other weather conditions that would make walking outside dangerous.

Please use your best judgement, and we’ll see you soon!

Any appropriate weather related closing will be posted on KCRG’s media outlets. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Contact 319-362-1501 or office@historycenter.org for more information.
